Why did I choose to be a teacher?
What prompted me to pursue my teaching vocation?

First of all, I grew up among textbooks and stories for and about children. My mother was a teacher for more than 40 years, who mentored dozens of generations.
How can one not fall irremediably in love with books and the profession of an educator?
Then, when I started teaching, I saw young people who grew up before my eyes, witnessing essential transformations.
I congratulate myself on having chosen this profession for all the moments that are not found in any school curriculum: for the little notes with messages like “You are like a mother to us!”, for the tears shed at end-of-year celebrations, for the children who leave with bigger dreams.
It is not always easy. There are also hard, exhausting days, but then a smile appears, a sincere question, a warm look – and I am reminded of my calling. I have the honor of shaping characters, cultivating courage and leaving a mark in the souls of wonderful young people.
How can you not feel privileged when you receive messages like the ones I will list, making just a small selection?
"Although I was not the best student, the most interesting person or the dearest child of yours, you were an idol, a mentor, a true master to me."
"Happy birthday, may you be surrounded by people as wonderful as you throughout your life, because you changed lives, helped, encouraged and supported a person like me!"
"Thank you for every piece of advice and for trusting me from the beginning! "I will be grateful to you all my life! "
"Thank you for existing and for having the honor of meeting you and crossing our paths in life!"
"I hope you have a bright day as I remember your face!"
If I had to start over and choose any profession in the world, I would choose teaching, without hesitation. So I can conclude: the privilege of being a teacher is not measured in grades, but in touched souls!
